D&B's Second Annual Trip to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue Dogwalk for Charity

Sunday, October 19, 2003

Boomer & I made our second annual trek to Borderland State Park in Easton MA. It rained all day, so most of our pictures came out too dark. But here are some highlights from the ones that came out ok:

Before we even got out of our neighborhood, we saw turkeys (see them walking up the middle of the path?)

This year we went on the walk FIRST so Boomer could work off some energy. Here I asked some guy to take our picture in front of this stone cabin. I love this cabin:

Boomer made a new friend, "Brewster"

Here's Boomer hanging out of the duck blind:

Look ducks! Pretty scenery

It rained hard the last half of the walk. When we got back to the car, we put on our raincoats. Since we walked first, we missed the parade of rescued goldens. Boomer watching the Halloween costume contest:

Boomer hates the rain, and it was freezing too. But we stayed a bit and did more fun stuff: visit friends, sniff other dogs, picture buttons, bobbing for hotdogs, second paw reading with Madame Bowowska. Unfortunately, those pictures came out too dark.

We stopped by to meet Babs' Quigley, but he and Boomer growled at each other (too much testosterone).
Here's Quigley hanging out in the comfort of his van:

This year, we made it to the food truck in time. Here Boomer enjoys his own hotdog:

I was going to ask about Boomer's readiness for taking the Canine Good Citizen test, but there was no one to administer the test this year. We left soon after.

"If she doesn't put on some decent music, I'm going to jump out this window"

Drinky stop!

Boomer acted really happy to be home

This year was not as fun as last because of the weather, but considering the benefit to those less fortunate than we, it was worth the trip.
